Origin of an Idea

The idea of making a film "Phone to Past" was try to enter in Film making career, with a micro film and taking my friends and my brothers in the shoot. The actual intention was to do all the theory I have learn about film makings to the journey where I can practically put things on a screen with my story.

The idea to start with a phone call conversation came in my mind, when I was watching the film "KARTIK CALLING KARTIK" and to play my spin on that concept.

The Journey

Scripting

24/11/20 to 1/12/20

Storyboard

27/11/20 to 28/11/20

Casting

29/11/20 to 1/12/20

The period of time from first draft written to Final draft was about 5 days, which includes Character Development, World Building, Story writing and Screenplay writing.

In the previsualization stage, we first tried to think about where we can place the stage for our film, and how we can use that less place to shoot and to tell the story.

The casting and rehearsing took almost three days to complete. My friend and My brother helped me to Improvise the script so that we can focus on small details which we can capture in the camera.

When I was writing Tanmay, I was clear that all the voice all the other character's in the story will be played by only one person. It was a single man story and revolves around the phone calls he receive.

A lot of inspiration came for the film, During a covid era. When most of the people were in quarantine. So it Allows me to constrain my location and help me to write the whole movie on the set itself (in my room), before few days shooting.

The behavior of the character was improvised by the Actor Ankush Giri, while reading the script.
